Government House grounds open
The gardens are open to the public from dawn to dusk. The grounds are free to visit.
Visitors must adhere to the most up-to-date recommendations from the Provincial Health Officer and social distancing is strongly encouraged. Physical distancing is encouraged, giving lots of space to gardeners and other working staff. If you are sick or feel unwell, please stay home and come for a visit when you feel better. Cleaning schedules for the public washrooms have been enhanced, and there are handwashing stations throughout the grounds. Visitors also notice that benches and other “common touch” areas are taped off.
Meanwhile, Government House itself is now closed for long needed upgrades and refurbishments. Work has begun, under the management of the Real Property division of the Ministry of Citizens’ Services. Renovations are expected to take approximately one year, from August 2020 to September 2021. Staff have moved to a temporary office, where support for the Office of the Lieutenant Governor and Government House will continue.
For more information about visiting the grounds, please check the Government House website.
