Over the summer months, Rudi’s Tea Room and the grounds of the estate remained open to the public while renovation preparation inside Government House was underway. Rudi’s is now closed for the season—thanks to all who stopped by for lunch or a cup of tea, and for your flexibility and respectfulness in regard to COVID-safe take-out format this year. And a huge thank you, as always, to our devoted volunteers who make the Tea Room and grounds so special to visit!
Named for Rudolph (Rudi) Hoenson, a philanthropist and longtime supporter of Government House, the Tea Room sits in the historic Butterworth Cottage in the Cary Castle Mews. Unfortunately, due to health restrictions related to COVID-19, other parts of the Mews – the costume museum and interpretive centre – were closed for the 2020 summer season. Let’s hope we can enjoy all the facilities next season.
